The first thing that you feel as you are thrust into this world
Is the love of your mother as she holds you to her breast
And the love of your father as he holds you in his arms
The love your parents give you teaches you about the rest

As a child your love for them begins to show
Your brothers and sisters bring you laughter with their play
You love your family as much as they love you
You will tell them this when you learn what words to say

Your favorite toy, your cute and cuddly pets
Then as you go out into the world you make new friends
These things you love for they give you happiness
The memory of that joy you will cherish to the end

Then you meet someone you just can't keep off your mind
Someone you want to live together with as husband and wife
To that special someone you would give your all
This love is the most intense love you will know in your life

And as you have children of your own
You learn to appreciate what your parents have done for you
Now you can return the love that was given to the young
For now you know the help they will need to make it through

As you grow old and find your time is free
You spend it carefully with those that you love

A gift of memories: the love you've experienced and are always thinking of

You look back upon what you have done with your life
