Lyric:
THE LAND OF THE MIDNIGHT SUN Mar. 12/84 Karl Rigelhof
You travel by sled across the barren plains leaving tracks in the snow behind you
You are the only thing to disrupt the peace of the world spread out around you
The white turns to blue, the blue burns with gold bringing tears of pain that blind you
The wind it howls its endless song as its icy chains reach out to bind you
You praise the gods of this accursed land for sending the midnight sun to warm you
You wake at dawn to dig your way out of the snow to confront the blazing blizzard
You think you are blind for everywhere you look all you see is the white of snow
The day draws on as you trudge along seeking shelter from the storm
The cold it growls as its icy fangs seek to sink its teeth into your flesh
You can't stop now you will survive somehow to see the light of the midnight sun again
CHORUS:
In the land of the midnight sun
Your journey has just begun
Land of the midnight sun
But you will be the one
Land of the midnight sun
To stand on top of the world
You awake inside a cave, you feel it must be your grave carved out of the ice
You are covered in native furs their warmth it feels so nice
They must have saved you from the storm now they help you to regain your strength
They say they will take you to wherever you wish to go
The spirit of your quest has not faltered as you will once again stand beneath the midnight sun
You have finally found the place but you can't believe it's true
It looks no different from any other but it feels better than any experience you've held before
Your guides are off tending to the packs still they wonder why you smile
You raise your eyes to see the northern lights flashing across the skies
Then you see/know reality as the midnight sun sets into the snow
