Buildings tower above the city
Blotting out the warmth of the sun

To humble the people walking in their shadows
Another day is done

The highway slashes through the forest
An accomplice to the automobiles' escape
They're rushing home to a meal and rest
They have no time to realize what's happening to them
That is their fate

Where is that human element
Why don't we think before we act
To tell the truth becomes irrelevant
When will we learn to face the facts
Why do we wear a/this mask of indifference
To try to shield the weight of impact

Empty words flow from an empty chalice
